--- Detectives from the Montgomery County Police Major Crimes
Division – Robbery Section and special agents from the FBI are
investigating the robbery of a Dunbar Armored Truck employee
which occurred today at approximately 8:55 a.m.
Two employees, a driver and a courier
for the Dunbar Armored Truck Company, had arrived at the Bank of
America located in the 10100 block of Colesville Road and parked
their vehicle on Timberwood Avenue, adjacent to the bank. The
driver remained in the truck while the courier made a delivery.
As the courier returned to the truck after making the delivery,
he was confronted by a male suspect armed with a gun. The driver
of the vehicle saw the suspect force the courier to the ground
and drove away. The suspect took the courier’s gun and fled from
the scene without gaining any currency.
The driver notified his dispatcher at
Dunbar of the armed robbery. The courier ran back to the bank
and was trying to contact police when he saw two men near a CVS
store in the 10100 block of Colesville Road. He told them he had
been robbed and to call 911. The two men went back inside the
CVS and asked employees to call 911. It was later learned that
the two men who assisted the courier were also involved in
shoplifting at that CVS store. Those two suspects left the area
in a black Dodge Neon, which was originally thought to be linked
to the armed robbery. It is now known that the car and those two
suspects were not related to the armed robbery of the armored
truck.
The suspect, who remains at large, is
described as a black male 28 to 34 years of age, approximately
5’9” tall and weighing approximately 175 pounds. He was wearing
a light blue, short-sleeve, button-down shirt and dark blue
shorts, resembling a postal uniform.

robbery and/or suspect is asked to call the Major Crimes

remain anonymous may call Crime Solvers of Montgomery County
