The mayor had obviously become fed up with federal bureaucrats' use of future tense verbs. "Don't tell me 40,000 people are coming here," he said. "They're not here. It's too doggone late. Man Stuck Knife in Own
Stomach in Suicide Attempt

LEXINGTON PARK --- (August 19, 2005) Police were called to the scene of what appeared to be an assault on Ronald Drive just off of Pegg Road in Lexington Park on Thursday.  The victim later told police that he had stuck a knife in his stomach in an attempt to kill himself.  The man's intestines were spilled out. Neighbors report that the man had been trying to attack his next door neighbor and the St. Mary's Sheriff's Dept. sent a deputy to the scene who took no further action and left.  Moments later the man broke into the woman's house and allegedly sorted through personal items before stabbing himself.

The Banana Republic of Prince George's County Racks Up 103rd Murder of the Year...Congratulations to Police Chief Melvin High and PG County Executive Jack Johnson, as well as the law and order States Attorney Glen Ivey...they are a credit to all those who believe in the principle that leniency in dealing with crime leads to success and a safe place to live.
PG County (Pretty Gory) has seen families, black and white, flee the Criminal Kingdom which has been created in what was once a proud working class county.  But drugs and violence have followed political corruption and ineptitude as all standards have been dropped in to order to accommodate touchy-feely attitudes towards accomplishment and accountability. Prince George's County is simply flushing down the toilet and when a fish starts to stink it starts at the head...Avoid driving or shopping in PG County if at all possible or you could be number 104!

Fire Bug Hits Again

CHESAPEAKE BEACH --- After a pause of several months, an arsonist is back at work in the North Beach / Chesapeake Beach area, striking in the early morning hours on Thursday, according to Maryland State Deputy Fire Marshal Chuck Dammann.  The arsonist, who may be connected to a series of other fires in the area, broke into a one story wood frame structure on Dory Brooks Road and poured an ignitable liquid over the floor, lit and fled.  The occupant of the basement apartment discovered the fire and called 911. The loss was put at $50,000 to the structure and $25,000 to the contents.  The fire was fought by 31 firefighters from fire departments from North Beach, Prince Frederick, Naval Research Lab and Huntingtown.  A Anne Arundel County Fire Dept. fire marshal and K-9 dog, Doug Wilson and Iris, assisted in the investigation.

Crowded Field Appears for Judgeship

Sparling Files for Judge
LEONARDTOWN --- Former St. Mary's States Attorney George Sparling has filed for election to the vacancy on the St. Mary's circuit court created by the retirement of Judge Marvin Kaminetz.  Sparling told ST. MARY'S TODAY that he was not applying for the appointment but has filed to run for election.  Sparling was elected states attorney in 1974 and served one term.  He lost the Democratic Primary to Neal Myerberg in 1978.  Since that time Sparling has been in private practice, establishing himself as a one of the area's top criminal defense attorneys.  Sparling represented a man who was falsely accused in the infamous 65 personalities case, winning an 11-1 mistrial in favor of his client, who was not further prosecuted by the state.
