Bernard Joseph Drury, Sr., 85
U.S. Army WW II Veteran

Bernard Joseph Drury, Sr., 85, of Mechanicsville, Maryland died on April 28, 2005 at his residence. Born on January 29, 1920 in Mechanicsville, MD, he was the son of the late Francis Eugene and Elizabeth Long Drury.

Mr. Drury was a graduate of Margaret Brent High School and a graduate of Bliss Electrical College. He served with the United States Army from January of 1942 until July of 1945, with the European-African Middle East Campaign with the 26th Air Squadron. He married his beloved wife of 59 years, Betty Ann Harding Drury on January 29, 1946. From 1947 to 1978 he owned and operated B.J. Drury Electrical Contractors and he also worked as an associate Real Estate broker for the B&B Realty company. He was a member of the Southern Maryland Board of Realtors.

Mr. Drury is survived by his wife, Betty Ann Harding Drury, two daughters, Cheryl D. Norton of Mechanicsville, MD, and Cynthia L. Fields and her husband John of Mechanicsville, MD, two sons, Bernard J. Drury, Jr. and his wife Karen of Nanticoke, PA and Leonard F. Drury of Mechanicsville, MD, three sisters, Mary Jane Bonham and husband Bill of Charlotte Hall, MD, Clara Bell and her husband Richard of Riva, MD, Ruth Schuart of Waldorf, MD and sister-in-law Hilda Drury of Clements, MD, six grandchildren, Duane P. Drury, Brandi L. Norton, Brian K. Drury, John A. Fields, Jennifer L. Fields and Jason A. Drury and three great grandchildren Kayla, Kristen, and Emma. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by three brothers, Jesse J. Drury, Henry Matthew Drury, and Francis E. Drury, Jr.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, May 4th, 2005 from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. in the Brinsfield Funeral Home Chapel. Prayers will be recited at 7:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, May 5th, 2005 at St. John Francis Regis Catholic Church, Hollywood, MD at 11:00 a.m. with the Reverend Ray Schmidt as the celebrant. Interment will follow in the Queen of Peace Cemetery, Helen, MD.

Pallbearers will be Duane P. Drury, Brian K. Drury, Jason A. Drury, John A. Fields, Robert L. Blevins, Thomas M. Burroughs, Albert Scully and Francis E. (Gene) Drury.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Jennifer F. Fields and Brandi L. Norton.
