Blimpie Bandits Linked to Mailbox Robberies
GOLDEN BEACH --- Maryland State Police report that a gang who had robbed a woman in Golden Beach who was checking her mail also robbed a Hermanville convenience store.
Police report that on November 20th, 2006 at approximately 1:40 pm Patrol Officers responded to a residence located in Mechanicsville, MD for a reported Armed Robbery. Contact was made with the 84 year old female victim who was robbed at gunpoint by a masked suspect while she was retrieving her mail at the end of her driveway. A 2nd suspect was identified as a young female who was driving the suspect vehicle which successfully fled the area after stealing an undisclosed amount of US Currency and personal property from the victim. The victim was not injured in the incident.
That same day at approximately 3:30 pm the same suspects robbed a 2nd elderly female at gunpoint in Accokeek, Prince Georges County, MD. In that instance the suspects successfully fled the area taking an undisclosed amount of US Currency and personal property.
On November 21st, 2006 at approximately 1:52 am the same two (2) suspects in addition to two (2) more suspects – robbed a Gas Station located in Lexington Park, St. Mary’s County, Maryland. While fleeing the area in the suspect vehicle – patrol units located the vehicle traveling northbound on Rt. 235 in California, MD. The suspects were detained and were soon thereafter positively identified by the store owner.
Detectives from the St. Mary’s County Bureau of Criminal Investigations (BCI) further investigated the Robbery and connected the suspects to the Armed Robberies in Mechanicsville and PG County.
Numerous Search Warrants were executed in St. Mary’s County and Charles County - where numerous items of evidence connected to the above listed incidents were recovered. The weapon used in the two (2) armed robberies was discovered by detectives on Rt. 235 in California, MD after the suspects discarded it before being stopped by police.
Detectives from the Charles County Sheriff’s Office and Prince Georges County Police assisted in the investigation and the suspects were determined to have committed two (2) additional armed robberies in the Waldorf area over the past two (2) months. Also discovered in Waldorf, MD - was the suspect vehicle used in the Mechanicsville Armed Robbery which was determined to have been stolen from PG County. The recovered weapon was also listed as stolen from the Waldorf area.
The suspects were identified as 23 year old Toccara Desper Bridgers of Waldorf, MD; 33 year old Chandar Ceylon Dismuke of Suitland, MD; a 17 year old male from Washington D.C.; and a 17 year old male from Florida.
All suspects were placed under arrest and charged with various offenses to include Armed Robbery, Robbery, Theft Over $500, 1st Degree Assault, 2nd Degree Assault, and Theft Under $500. One (1) 17 year old male, Cortez Khyree Williams was charged as an adult and is currently incarcerated in the St. Mary’s County Detention Center along with Toccara Bridgers and Chandar Dismuke. The 2nd 17 year old male was detained by the Department of Juvenile Justice (DJJ) and is currently incarcerated in Cheltingham, MD.
