Booze Cruise and Speed Kills First
Person of 2005 in St. Mary's County
A Med-Evac helicopter waits to
fly a man who had his leg cut off in this crash where a speeding car operated by Paula
Phillips, 23, of Hollywood, left the road and had this giant pole split her car in half,
killing her, at about 2:08 am on Saturday, Jan. 8, 2005. Police say that alcohol and
speed were factors in the wreck. The wreck took place on Mechanicsville Road near
the entrance to Country Lakes. The passenger was reportedly so intoxicated that he
wasn't aware his leg had been amputated in the horrific wreck. ST. MARY'S TODAY
