Boozing Bozo Was Southbound in North Bound Lane of Divided Highway, Hit Other Vehicle Head On
CALIFORNIA --- On Saturday evening, April 24th, 2004, Sgt. Daniel Alioto reports that numerous St. Mary's County Sheriff's Deputies responded to the area of Three Notch Road and MacArthur Blvd. for the reported motor vehicle accident with injuries and that Dfc. W. Daniel Ray is investigating the motor vehicle accident.
Sgt. Alioto reports that a vehicle being operated by Preston Anthony Smith, 48, of Lexington Park, was south bound in the north bound lane of Rt. 235 when it struck another vehicle in a head-on.
The operator of the second vehicle was extracted by Bay District Fire Department and transported to St. Mary's Hospital for treatment.
Smith was put through a battery of roadside tests as Deputy W. John Anderson suspected he had been consuming alcoholic beverages.
Smith failed the tests and was placed under arrest for
Driving While Intoxicated. He was also found to be at fault in regards to the accident and
cited with the proper citations. He was incarcerated in the St. Mary's County Detention
Center to await a hearing before the District Court Commissioner.
