Bugged by Mosquitos?

The Maryland Department of Agriculture in cooperation with the Calvert County Mosquito Control Program will conduct aerial spraying to control mosquito larvae on 6/24/2004, weather permitting. The insecticide to be applied is Vectolex CG, a biological larvicide, and specific only to mosquitoes. It can be applied safely with minimal risk to the environment and human health. A helicopter will conduct low-level flights near residential areas adjacent to salt marshes.

Aerial spraying will occur in and around the towns of North Beach and Chesapeake Beach and the community of Breezy Point in Calvert County, as well as the communities of North Beach Park, Rose Haven, and Chesapeake Overlook in Anne Arundel. Spraying will be done during the daylight hours and may include early morning flights.
Southern Maryland has been indentified by the State Health Department as being infested with West Nile Virus, which is spread by mosquitos.

For more information, contact the Maryland Department of Agriculture at 410-841-5870 or the Calvert County Mosquito Control Program at 410-535-6924.
