Cat Fight Time at Spring Ridge Middle School
SPRING RIDGE --- On 02/27/04 at 2:15 pm St. Sheriff's Deputies responded to a fight call at Spring Ridge Middle
School. Once on the scene, DFC David M. Yingling's investigation revealed that two (2) juvenile female students, aged 12 and 13, engaged
in a hallway argument which escalated into both students pushing and punching each other. One of the students suffered a minor laceration on
her forehead and was treated by the school nurse. DFC Yingling arrested both combatants, transported them to the Sheriff's Office and charged
each of them with Second Degree Assault. Both juveniles were processed and released to an adult family member to await further disposition by
the Department of Juvenile Justice.
Mother Arrested After Assaulting Deputy When Signing for Her Hooligan Kid
LEXINGTON PARK --- On 02/27/04 at3:44 pm, St. Mary's DFC Michael D. Peacher was assisting DFC David M. Yingling at the Sheriff's Office District One (Lexington Park) Station with the processing and release of two juveniles arrested earlier for assaulting each other at
Spring Ridge Middle School. Emeka W. Butler, 30, of Lexington Park arrived at the District One Station to take custody of one of the
juveniles. While DFC Peacher was attempting to release the juvenile to Ms. Butler, which requires a signature, she became very disorderly and
uncooperative and was yelling at DFC Peacher. DFC Peacher finally convinced her to sign the custody form and leave the station. After
signing the required form, Butler looked up at DFC Peacher, drew her arm back, and threw the pen she had been using at DFC Peacher, striking him
in the chest. Butler was arrested after a brief struggle, transported to the Detention Center, charged with Second Degree Assault, and was
awaiting bond review. DFC Peacher suffered no injury.
Classroom Rage Makes Teacher, Classmates Flee Crazed Kid
CALIFORNIA ---  On 02/27/04 at 10:28 am St. Mary's Sheriff's Deputies responded to the report of an "out of control
student" at Esperanza Middle School. DFC Michael D. Peacher's investigation revealed that just prior to police arrival, a 12 year old
male student became angry at a teacher and began yelling and cursing at the teacher in a classroom. The student then walked out of the classroom
and was followed by the teacher. The student continued yelling and cursing at the teacher in the hallway. Once the teacher convinced the
student to return to the classroom, he slammed the classroom door in the teacher's face, threatened to hit her, then threw two desks across the
room. The rest of the students had to be evacuated from the classroom.No injuries occurred. DFC Peacher arrested the juvenile and charged him
with Disruption of School Operations. He was later released to a parent.
