Catholic Schools Closed for Reagan Funeral
Cardinal Theodore E. McCarrick, Archbishop of
Washington, will celebrate a Mass in Remembrance of President Ronald Reagan on Friday,
June 11, 8:00 a.m. at the Cathedral of St. Matthew, 1725 Rhode Island Avenue, NW,
Washington, DC.
Cardinal McCarrick met President Reagan several times over the years. The last time they
spoke was in 1993 at a dinner to celebrate comedian Bob Hopes 90th
birthday.
Also, since Friday,
June 11 has been declared a National Day of Mourning, offices and schools of the
Archdiocese of Washington will be closed. These facilities typically follow closing
guidelines of the Federal government
The Catholic schools closed include all St. Mary's, Calvert and Charles County schools.
