CHARLES COUNTY SHERIFF, FRATERNAL ORDER OF POLICE PRESIDENT SIGN COLLECTIVE BARGAINING
CONTRACT
LA PLATA --- Charles County Sheriff Frederick E. Davis and Sgt.
Jon Norris, president of the Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 24 (FOP), met Wednesday,
February 25, to sign the first collective bargaining contract since a bill passed in 2002
allowing the Sheriff's Office and FOP members to formally negotiate working conditions and
other contract terms.
The contract signing was the culmination of more than a year of negotiations between the
Sheriff's Office and the FOP.
"It was truly a pleasure working with Sgt. Norris and the Fraternal Order of Police
to create and sign the first collective bargaining contract," said Sheriff Davis.
"Collective bargaining is important because it keeps the lines of communication open
for both organizations. Together, we can discuss what we need and what we have to work
with and come up with a solution that works for everyone. I'd say we were very successful
in accomplishing that task."
The contract will be renewed in two years.
