CHARLES COUNTY SHERIFF APPREHENDS 41 WANTED SUBJECTS IN OPERATION TRIDENT STRIKE

LA PLATA --- The Charles County Sheriff’s Dept. recently participated in a warrant sweep called Operation Trident Strike, a combined effort between the Charles and Prince George’s County Sheriff’s offices and the Maryland State Police to serve outstanding warrants for child support and other criminal violations.

In the first phase of the operation, officers published advertisements in local newspapers in Charles and Prince George’s counties. The advertisements included the pictures of wanted individuals and generated many tips regarding the whereabouts of the individuals. Several turned themselves in after seeing their pictures in the newspaper and one person was located in the St. Mary’s County Detention Center.

The second phase of the operation commenced at midnight on Jan. 27. During this phase, 26 Charles County Sheriff’s officers, 10 Prince George’s County Sheriff’s officers and three Maryland State Police troopers went to 79 different locations in Charles and Prince George’s counties to serve warrants. Their efforts resulted in the service of 35 arrest warrants and the apprehension of 28 wanted persons, including a juvenile with five writs of attachment.

The combined efforts of the law enforcement agencies involved and the newspaper ads resulted in the apprehension of 41 individuals and the service of 46 warrants, including 23 for child support. The individuals arrested for child support owed a combined total of $222,576.97 in arrears.

Anyone with information about a wanted person in Charles County may call the Charles County Sheriff’s Office at 301-932-2222, 301-932-7777 or 301-743-2222.
