Charles Leo Dyson

Charles Leo Dyson, 82, of Park Hall, MD, died on Saturday, November 27, 2004 at Bayside Care Center, Lexington Park, MD.

Born on April 15, 1922 in Pearson, MD, he was the son of the late William Thomas Dyson and the late Lucy Barnes Dyson.

Leo was united in marriage on April 25, 1943 in Ridge, MD to Virgie Mary Barnes. They were married 61 years.

Leo served two years on active duty in the United States Army during World War II. After being honorably discharged, he worked for 31 years as a boiler plant operator at the Patuxent River Naval Base, Public Works Department retiring in 1975. Some of Leo’s favorite past included fishing, gardening, landscaping, and playing his guitar. He also enjoyed watching the sport of baseball. His favorite songs were “Rainy Night in Georgia” by Ray Charles and “Lean on Me” by Bill Withers. On Sundays when leaving his home, his grandchildren would ask him if they could ride with him. He would respond by saying, “I am going to see a man about a horse.” In other words, he just wanted to hang out with his friends.

Leo leaves a rich legacy of love and fond memories to his family and friends. In addition to his wife he is survived by his eight children Delores Bailey of Dameron, MD; Marlee Francis of Billerica, MA; Avon Dyson of Hyattsville, MD; Austine Somerville of Park Hall, MD; Bruce Dyson of Palm Harbor, FL; Eloise Sewell of Park Hall, MD; Jacqueline Davis of Lexington Park, MD; and Pandora Brown of Baltimore, MD. He is also survived by his siblings Janet Green, Richard, Gibbons, Russell, LeRoy and Webster Dyson, 18 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by siblings Carroll, Thomas, and James Dyson, Louise Dyson and Edith Parker.

The family will receive friends at the Brinsfield Funeral Home, P.A., Leonardtown, MD on Saturday, December 4, 2004 from 9:00 – 11:00 a.m. where a funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. officiated by Elder Joy Fenwick. Interment will follow at Charles Memorial Gardens, Leonardtown, MD.
