Cops Cheat; Jail is Hot

To the Editor:

I am currently at the St. Mary’s County Jail.  I am serving a 1 year sentence because a so-called “friend” set me up with the police.

             He has been snitching and using drugs for the St. Mary’s County Narcotics team for years!  This is a person Det. Trow has used to ruin people’s lives, and why does this “friend” do it?  Because he owes child-support and receives $1000 for each person he set’s up.  He is a known “crack-head” through out the community and yet the police use him as a “reliable informant.”  The narcotics force is that hard-up to make arrests that they use a known drug user to make arrests.  There are at least five men currently at the St. Mary’s county Jail awaiting trial because of this informant.  How can this man be considered reliable?  He is setting up guys that he himself gets high with!  What’s next for Det. Trow and his crew, locking up rehab patients?  They give him money to set people up and then he goes and buys drugs for his personal use.  Or do they give him drugs from their evidence locker to get high??

            This is what taxpayers money is going to?  To pay crack-heads to set up other crack-heads, while the police sit on their butts and do nothing.  This is a man who is known as a drug user, but he’s responsible for getting men taken away from their families for years!  This is how Det. Trow and Co. earns their pay? Must be nice!

            Anyway, I also have issues with this jail.  I injured my knee while incarcerated here, and the medical department does nothing.  My knee has swollen to the size of a soft ball and yet the jail refuses to give me any outside treatment.  They just keep charging me $4.00 to see the so called “doctor!”  Some days I can hardly walk and all they give me is generic Tylenol.  Some remedy?  Also, I am in a unit that has 3 grown men to a cell, no A/C, one little fan and a fountain that dispenses warm water.  We inmates have written numerous grievance forms, yet nothing changes.  I understand that some of us truly broke the law to be here, but being housed like sardines in 100 degree temperature is cruel and unusual punishment.  Someone really needs to come and see the way we are living in E-Wing of this jail!
