GOLDEN BEACH --- A young man was shot to death in an accidental shooting at a home on Dudley Drive in Golden Beach, reports Maryland State Police Lt. Brian Cedar. Neighbors report hearing more than one shot in the incident but Lt. Cedar reports that it is clear that there was only one gunshot fired in the death.
"The shooting took place with a group of people sitting around with a revolver and discussing their belief that the gun was not loaded," said Lt. Cedar, commander of the Leonardtown Barracks. "The victim told the 12-year-old to go ahead and pull the trigger, that the gun wasnt loaded. It was the last thing he said."
One shot to the face of the twenty year old man ended the life of the man, reports Lt. Cedar. The shooter and the victim were not related but they all knew each other.
Police did parafin examinations of the clothing of those present to be sure that there had not been any other scenario as to what had taken place. Lt. Cedar said that the shooter was not likely to be charged, that the probe into matter supports an accidental shooting but the owner of the handgun may face charges.
"People should treat all guns as if they are loaded," said Lt. Cedar.
