Democratic House Whip Hoyer Attacked by
Liberal Group for Vote to Reform Bankruptcy Law
WASHINGTON, D.C. (April 17, 2005) --- Maryland Congressman Steny Hoyer said on
Sunday that he is being targeted by the liberal policy group Moveon.org for his
vote to reform the nation's bankruptcy laws.
"I believe people should pay their bills and thus I voted for the recent
revision of bankruptcy laws," Hoyer (D. Md. 5th) told ST. MARY'S TODAY.
"This vote was important in that the new law allows those who genuinely need bankruptcy protection to gain that shield and be able to get a fresh start and those who can afford to pay their bills continue to do so," said Hoyer.
Hoyer told ST. MARY'S TODAY he had appeared on the Fox News Live on Sunday morning, hosted by anchor Chris Wallace
