Denise Dorsey Hansen

Denise Dorsey Hansen, 58, of Hollywood, died on Sunday, April 17, 2005 at St. Mary’s Nursing Center, Leonardtown.

Mrs. Hansen was born on May 25, 1946, the daughter of Thomas Gantt Dorsey and Veronica Dilworth Dorsey. Denny’s life was devoted to her family and to our community’s children. She was a teacher’s aide while her children were in school, as well as a volunteer with Bay District Volunteer Fire Department, teaching fire prevention programs in the St. Mary’s Public Schools and numerous activities, including special events at the firehouse. She took many classes through FEMA, where she received the certification of Public Safety Educator IV. Most recently, while living in Davenport, Florida, she volunteered as a teacher’s aide in the local public school system. She will be remembered for her exceptional ability to give to others.

She is survived by her husband, Leslie Robert Hansen; her daughter, Vandy Hansen of Davenport, Florida; her son, Jay L. Hansen and his wife, Lisa O. Hansen of Hollywood; and large number of family and friends.

Visitation for family and friends will be at the Bay District Volunteer Fire Department in California, MD on Thursday, April 21st from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. Services will be held on Friday, April 22nd at 10:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Public Safety Educator Committee, Bay District Volunteer Fire Department, P.
