Deputy Collars Kid in Woods With BB Gun, Knife
GREAT MILLS --- When is a kid with a hunting knife and a BB gun simply a kid out in the
woods trying his skill at playing the Great White Hunter and when does the kid cross the
line to being a threat to others? A St. Mary's Sheriff's deputy was taking no
chances last week, according to Cpl. Katherine Dassing. Sgt. Daniel Alioto responded
to a complaint from staff at the Great Mills swimming pool that a kid with a gun and
wearing camo was lurking in the woods. Sgt. Alioto found a kid who also had a knife,
handy for cutting the legs of toads and carving one's initials in trees, under his camo.
This kid was arrested and charged with carrying a deadly weapon, perhaps meaning
the knife, not the BB gun. BB guns and knives are both sold in local stores to
anyone.
