ST. MARY’S TODAY

LEXINGTON PARK --- An armed robbery of a Hampton Inn Hotel guest early on Wednesday morning was partly resolved late in the day when detectives tracked down two of the four gunmen on a traffic stop on Maypole Road near Leonardtown.

Lt. Daniel Alioto, commander of the CID division of the Sheriff’s Dept. reports that detectives of the joint investigation team with the State Police were able to figure out who two of the robber were and were able to track them down.

Lt. Alioto spotted the suspects driving in a silver Dodge Intrepid and put out an all-cars bulletin to assist in a felony traffic stop, authorizing a high-speed chase in advance if necessary.

The car was stopped and the suspects were apprehended.

The men were allegedly part of a gang which robbed Anthony Enriques of a large amount of money at the Hampton Inn about 4 am.  The victim was severely injured when the gang of gunmen pistol-whipped him.

Alioto said that one weapon was displayed and others were threatened in the robbery which he said was a ‘set-up’.

Check back for more details as they become available.
