Don Richard Pearson
US Navy Viet Nam Veteran
Don Richard Pearson, 65, of Lexington Park, MD died on Monday, June 28,
2004 at his residence.
Born on April 25, 1939 in Akron, OH, he was the son of Dorothy Gehm Pearson Krammes of
Palmetto, FL and the late David M. Pearson.
He married Margery L. Pearson on December 24, 1992 in Leonardtown, MD.
Mr. Pearson entered the Navy in 1956 and retired in 1975, having served his country for
twenty years. He was a veteran of Viet Nam having served several tours of duty in and out
of the country. He also served aboard the U.S.S. Tarwara; Fleet Squadron 1 and Patrol
Squadron 8 at NAS Patuxent River, MD; NMC Pt. Mugu, CA; Atkron 122 at NAS Lemoore, CA;
NARF Alameda, CA; Attack Squadron 27, PACFLT Naslem and NATTC NAS Memphis, TN. He
received five Navy Achievement Medals and a Meritorious Unit Commendation Award. After
retiring from the Navy, he worked for Bill Cairns Pontiac for twenty years, before going
to work for DynCorp in Solomons, MD as a welder.
Mr. Pearson enjoyed the game of golf and played as often as he could. He also enjoyed
NASCAR racing and attended many races each year. He loved traveling in his motor home to
the NASCAR races and going to different camping sites.
He was a member of the Fleet Reserve, Branch 93 in Lexington Park, MD and of the VFW, Post
2632 in California, MD.
In addition to his mother he is survived by his wife, Margery Pearson of Lexington Park,
MD, his son, Richard Pearson and a granddaughter, Tristen of Pace, Fl, a brother David and
wife Lavina of Palmetto, FL, a stepson, Raymond Hamilton of California, MD, a
stepdaughter, Robin Barrett and a step granddaughter, Lindsey Barrett of California, MD.
In addition to his father he was preceded in death by a son, Michael.
The family will receive friends on Friday, July 2, 2004 from 5:00 until 8:00 pm at the
Brinsfield Funeral Home, P.A. 22955 Hollywood Road, Leonardtown, MD 20650. A Memorial
Service will be held at 7:00 pm in the Brinsfield Funeral Home Chapel. The Reverend Phil
Ayers will officiate. Interment will be private.
