82, of Bel Alton
Doris Eulalia "Lala" Hayden, 82, of Bel Alton died Mary 28, 2004, at Civista
Medical Center, La Plata. Married, July 7, 1941. She enjoyed painting, sewing, gardening,
and canning. Active in church picnics and help decorate Manor House. Member of the Ladies
Auxiliary, Bel Alton Volunteer Fire Department, and telephone pioneers. Born May 29, 1921,
in Medley's Neck, Maryland. She was the daughter of the late Joseph Van Ryswick and the
late Mary Alma Raley Van Ryswick. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in
death by her husband, Georg Kenneth Hayden; brothers, Thomas Van Ryswick, Joseph Pete Van
Ryswick; sisters, Genevive Borger, Evelyn Beckley, and Helen Stevens; grandchildren,
Thomas Damian Burch, Keith Gregory Hayden, Jr. and Victoria Anne Simpson. She is survived
by her children, Joyce Spalding and her husband, Thomas, of Bel Alton, Kenny Hayden and
his wife, Elizabeth, of Welcome, Peggy Burch and her husband, Buddy, of Newburg, Eleanor
Simpson and her husband, Jim, of Buffton, South Carolina, Debbie Pacilio and her husband,
Ed, of Warrenton, Virginia, Greg Hayden and his wife, Cissy, of Bel Alton; 24
grandchildren and 33 great-grandchildren. Visitation will be held May 31 from 2-4 p.m. and
6-8 p.m. with prayers at 7 p.m. at Arehart-Echols Funeral Home, La Plata. Mass will be
held Monday, June 1 at 11 a.m. at St. Ignatius Catholic Church, Port Tobacco Parish,
Chapel Point. The Rev. Salvadore Jordan, S.J. will officiate. Burial will be at the church
cemetery. Pallbearers will be Charles Spalding, John Spalding, Eddie Hayden, Charlie
Hayden, Nick Pacilio and Tucker Pacilio. Honorary Pallbearers will be Daniel Bowling,
Zachary Hatoum, Brandon Hatoum, and Austin Hayden. Memorial contributions may be sent to
