Double Trouble Trip to Jail

LEONARDTOWN --- On 3/22/05, at 10:54 p.m., Tpr. P. A. Trossbach initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle on Route 5, north of Route 234 in Leonardtown for a traffic violation. The driver, Brian Scott Mayle, 26, of Leonardtown was extremely nervous. An officer safety pat down revealed one set of brass knuckles in Mayle’s front pants pocket. Mayle was placed under arrest for a concealed weapon. Search incident to arrest revealed a switchblade knife and a suspected Oxycodone pill in the center console of the vehicle. Mayle was charged with possession of concealed deadly weapon and possession of CDS. The passenger, Steven Michael Douglas, 23, of Leonardtown was found to have four outstanding warrants through Maryland. Both subjects were transported to the St. Mary’s County Detention Center pending a bond review.

Woman Charged in Hair Care Snare

LEONARDTOWN ---- On 3/26/05, Tpr. L. N. Nims served a criminal summons on Mary Estelle Pilkerton, 34, of Leonardtown for theft over $500, theft under $500 and a theft scheme over $500. The criminal summons stems from an investigation in which Pilkerton is accused of the theft of funds between 1/14/05 through 3/6/05 from the Unique Chic on Merchants Lane in Leonardtown.

Willie’s Burden Requires Bail

LOVEVILLE --- On 3/28/05, at 7:52 a.m., TFC J. L. Linger initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle on Route 235 at Route 247 in Loveville for a seatbelt violation. Upon contact with the driver, a strong odor of burnt marijuana was emitting from the vehicle. A probable cause search revealed suspected marijuana in the driver’s front pants pocket. Willie West Burden, 44, of Mechanicsville was placed under arrest and charged with possession of marijuana. Burden was transported to the St. Mary’s County Detention Center pending a bond review.

Burglars Looking for a Doctor’s Pills

SOLOMON’S ISLAND --- Between 3-24 at 6:00 PM and 3-25 at 7:30 AM, an unknown culprit attempted to enter 5 offices at the Solomons Medical Center. CIT is handling the investigation.

Who Left the Safe Open?

LUSBY --- On 3-25, between 6:45 AM and 10:25 AM, an unknown culprit forcibly entered a residence on Tomahawk Trl., Lusby, and removed contents from a safe and several pieces of jewelry. CIT is handling the investigation.

Packing Pot Suspected

DUNKIRK --- On 3-25, 11:40 AM, Rt. 4, Dunkirk, TFC Huber stopped a vehicle for a traffic violation. Upon contact with the operator, Damon Dewitt Neal, 25, of Edgewater, TFC Huber detected the odor of suspected marijuana. A search was conducted and suspected marijuana was located in the vehicle. Mr. Neal was placed under arrest at that time for possession of marijuana. After processing, he was incarcerated in the CCDC to await a commissioner’s hearing.

DUNKIRK --- On 3-26, 11:20 AM, Rt. 4, Dunkirk, TFC Huber stopped a vehicle for a traffic violation. Upon contact with the operator, Derrick James Miller, 27, of Washington, DC, TFC Huber detected the odor of suspected marijuana. A search was conducted and suspected marijuana was located in the vehicle. At that time, Mr. Miller was placed under arrest for possession of marijuana. After processing, he was incarcerated in the CCDC to await a commissioner’s hearing.

DUNKIRK ---- On 3-26, a resident of Yellow Bank Rd., Dunkirk, reported that an unknown culprit had removed mail from several mailboxes on Lexington Dr., Dunkirk, taken personal checks from them, and then deposited them in her mailbox. TFC Huber is handling the investigation.

Pot Helps Stupid Kids Get Smarter

LUSBY --- On 3-26, 9:30 PM, TFC Brooks responded to the Lusby FaStop for a shoplifting complaint. Investigation revealed that a store employee observed a 15-year-old juvenile, of Lusby, leave the premises with merchandise concealed on his person. The employee also observed the juvenile put something in a trashcan. When it was retrieved, it was found to be a baggie of suspected marijuana. The youth was charged with theft (-$500) and possession of marijuana. After processing, he was released to a parent.

 

Stolen Loot Led to Drugs

PRINCE FREDERICK --- On 3-27, 4:17 PM, TFC Brooks responded to the Prince Frederick K-Mart for an employee theft complaint. Investigation revealed that Darius David Jackson, 18, of Prince Frederick, had been observed by a store employee removing cash from his register. He was then charged with theft (-$500). A search was conducted and suspected marijuana was found on his person. Mr. Jackson was then additionally charged with possession of marijuana. He was incarcerated in the CCDC to await a commissioner’s hearing.

Burglary Can Cause Cancer

PRINCE FREDERICK --- On 3-27, 3:45 AM, CPL Bolger responded to an alarm at Mom and Pop’s Convenience Store, Williams Wharf Rd., St. Leonard. Investigation revealed that an unknown culprit had forcibly entered the premises and removed approximately 30 packs of Newport cigarettes. CIT is handling the investigation.

Midnight Building Supply Loots Home of Copper Pipes

HUNTINGTOWN --- On 3-28, an employee of Fred Wyrostek Plumbing reported that an unknown culprit had removed 30 copper pipes from a house under construction on Larkspur Dr., Huntingtown. TFC Huber is handling the investigation.

Woman Wanted for Felony Welfare Fraud

DUNKIRK --- On 3-30, 10:05 AM, Rt. 4, Dunkirk, TFC Schmidt stopped a vehicle for a traffic violation. A computer check revealed that the operator, Cassandra Freeman Warthen, 48, of Baltimore, was wanted in Contra Costa County, CA, for two counts of felony welfare fraud. She was placed under arrest at that time and transported to the CCDC to await her extradition hearing.
