Driving While Stoned
CHAPTICO --- On 12/14/04, at 5:03 p.m., Tpr. P. A. Trossbach initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle at Route 5 and Route 238, in Helen for a traffic violation.  Upon contact with the driver, a strong odor of burnt marijuana was emitting from the vehicle.  The driver, Brian Scott Verbic, 18, of Leonardtown admitted to having marijuana in the vehicle and produced a plastic baggie containing suspected marijuana.  Mr. Verbic was placed under arrest and charged with possession of marijuana and possession of CDS paraphernalia.   Mr. Verbic was transported to the St. Mary’s County Detention Center pending a bond review.
Burglars Days and Burglar Nights
GOLDEN BEACH --- On 12/16/04, at 5:13 p.m., Tpr. P. A. Trossbach responded to Hillview Drive in Mechanicsville for the reported burglary.  Unknown suspect(s) had entered the residence through a previously broken window and removed property from the residence.   The property is valued at $439.  This investigation is continuing.
