Christopher Ray Garris: Possession of Marijuana
LEXINGTON PARK --- On 3/6/05, at 11:45 p.m., TFC M. S. Newman initiated a
traffic stop on a vehicle on Route 235 at Route 489 in Lexington Park for a
traffic violation. While a St. Mary's County Sheriff's Office K-9 unit was
providing assistance with the traffic stop, the K-9 unit had an aggressive alert
to the driver's side of the vehicle. A probable cause search revealed suspected
marijuana in the vehicle. The driver, Christopher Ray Garris, 23, of Lexington
Park was placed under arrest and charged with possession of marijuana. Garris
was transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center pending a bond review.
Juvenile: Possession of Cocaine
On 3/16/05, at 4:15 p.m., TFC M. S. Newman initiated a traffic stop on a
vehicle on Route 245 in the area of St. Johns Road in Hollywood for a traffic
violation. A computer check of the driver, Jeffrey Neil Shade, 20, of
Leonardtown, revealed his Maryland driver's license to be suspended. Mr. Shade
was placed under arrest and charged with driving while suspended. A search
incident to arrest revealed suspected crack cocaine in a jacket pocket belonging
to a 16 year old male passenger from Avenue. The juvenile was placed under
arrest and charged with possession of crack cocaine. The juvenile was
transported to the Leonardtown Barrack for processing and was released to a
parent pending action by juvenile authorities. Shade was transported to the St.
Mary's County Detention Center pending a bond review.
Kirk Vondel Swales: Possession of Cocaine, Crack,
Marijuana
On 3/17/05, at 10:10 p.m., TFC M. S. Newman attempted to contact a
subject in the parking lot of the D.J.'s One Stop in Mechanicsville for
suspicious activity when the subject fled on foot across Route 5 to a nearby
field before being apprehended. As the subject was fleeing, he threw two large
plastic bags in the field containing suspected crack cocaine and cocaine. Kirk
Vondel Swales, 22, of Mechanicsville was placed under arrest. Search incident to
arrest revealed additional suspected marijuana in his jacket pocket. Swales was
charged with possession of cocaine, possession of crack cocaine and possession
of marijuana. Swales was transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center
pending a bond review.
William Edward Burch: Possession of Narcotics
Without Prescription
On 3/19/05, at 12:31 a.m., Tpr. P. A Trossbach initiated a traffic stop
on a vehicle on Route 247 at Busy Corner Road in Loveville for a traffic
violation. The driver, William Edward Burch, 28, of Loveville was subsequently
arrested for DUI. Search incident to arrest revealed several narcotic
prescription medications in a bottle in the vehicle. Mr. Burch did not have a
prescription for the medication. Mr. Burch was additionally charged with
possession of CDS and was transported to the St. Mary's County Detention Center
pending a bond review.
Anthony James Campbell: Possession of Cocaine
On 3/21/05, at 12:45 a.m., TFC A. J. Rossignol approached a vehicle in the
parking lot of the Charlotte Hall Post Office in Charlotte Hall to check on the
welfare of a male subject sitting in the vehicle. Upon contact with the male
subject, a clear plastic baggie containing suspected cocaine was in plain view
in the vehicle. Anthony James Campbell, 22, of Mechanicsville was placed under
arrest and charged with possession of cocaine. Mr. Campbell was transported to
the St. Mary's County Detention Center pending a bond review.
