Drunken Teen Driver Blew Through NSWC Gate
INDIAN HEAD --- On Dec. 25 at 3:09 a.m., the Charles County Sheriffs Office received a report from a citizen of an intoxicated driver on Crain Highway near Marshalls Corner Road. A lookout was broadcast and shortly thereafter Sgt. R. Farrell located the vehicle traveling westbound on Hawthorne Road near Chicamuxen Road in Indian Head. Sgt. Farrell attempted to conduct a traffic stop but the driver continued southbound on Indian Head Highway and onto the Naval Surface Warfare Center in Indian Head where the driver stopped and was apprehended. The driver, a 17-year-old Waldorf boy, was arrested and investigation revealed he was intoxicated. He was charged with Driving Under the Influence, Driving While Intoxicated and Fleeing and Eluding. Screwdriver Salt & Pepper Bandits Robbed 7-11 for Second Time in Week
WALDORF --- On Dec. 24 at 11:15 p.m., Charles County Sheriffs officers responded to the 1600 block of Pin Oak Drive in Waldorf for the armed robbery report. Investigation revealed two suspects approached a 22-year-old Waldorf man as he exited his vehicle. The suspects brandished a handgun, demanded money and removed an undisclosed amount of money and a cell phone from the victims pockets. The suspects then fled the scene in different directions. One suspect is described as a white male, approximately 6 feet tall and 165 pounds. The other suspect is described as a black male, approximately 5 feet 7 inches tall and 150 pounds. Raging White Guy Beat Man to a Pulp in Road Incident
BRYANTOWN --- On Dec. 23 at 7:38 p.m., Charles County Sheriffs officers responded to the 6400 block of Sunnyside Drive in Bryantown for the assault report. Investigation revealed a 34-year-old Bryantown man was traveling in his vehicle on Oliver Shop Road near T.C. Martin Elementary School when he observed a pick-up truck attempt to pass him. The truck was unable to pass the victims vehicle and the driver followed the victim to a residence on Sunnyside Drive. When the victim exited his vehicle, the other driver assaulted the victim. When neighbors came to help the victim, the suspect fled in his truck. The victim sustained numerous facial injuries and was flown by a Maryland State Police helicopter to Prince Georges General Hospital, where he is listed in stable condition in the Intensive Care Unit. The suspect is described as a white male with a large build and is in his late 20s or early 30s. He was driving a gray or silver pick-up truck. Short Black Bandit Held Up 7-11 with Screwdriver
WALDORF --- On Dec. 21 at 10:55 p.m., Charles County Sheriffs officers responded to 7-Eleven in the 11500 block of Berry Road in Waldorf for the armed robbery report. Investigation revealed a suspect entered the store, brandished a screwdriver, assaulted the clerk and demanded money. The clerk complied and the suspect fled eastbound on Berry Road in a silver Nissan pick-up truck. The clerk was not injured. The suspect is described as a black male between 5 feet 7 inches and 5 feet 8 inches tall. He was wearing a turquoise t-shirt, blue jeans and a gray baseball hat. Officers Nab Truck Thieves; Bonus Drug ChargesWALDORF --- On Dec. 21 at 1:43 p.m., a citizen approached Officer S. Kirsch at the corner of Old Washington Road and VFW Road in Waldorf to report a stolen truck. A lookout for the stolen truck was broadcast and shortly thereafter Officer P. McPherson located the vehicle traveling on northbound Crain Highway in the area of Sub Station Road. Officer McPherson conducted a traffic stop on the truck on Crain Highway near Cedarville Road, but when he ordered the occupants out of the vehicle, the driver fled onto Cedarville Road. Officer McPherson pursued the vehicle to a construction site off Cedarville Road, where the vehicle stopped and the driver fled on foot. The passenger, Jacque Peire Pilette, 37, of Kaplan, La., remained in the vehicle and was quickly apprehended. He was charged with Theft More Than $500 and Theft Less Than $500. The driver was apprehended shortly thereafter and identified as Michael Anthony Smith, 41, of no fixed address. A search revealed he was in possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia. Smith was charged with Motor Vehicle Theft, Theft More Than $500, Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle, Possession of Marijuana and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Pilette and Smith are being held at the Charles County Detention Center pending appearances before the District Court Commissioner. Officer S. Kirsch investigated.
High School VandalizedWALDORF --- Sometime between 5 p.m. on Dec. 10 and 5:38 a.m. on Dec. 11, suspect(s) forced entry into North Point High School in the 2500 block of Davis Road in Waldorf, shattered about 40 windows and spray painted several walls. R. Maloy responded to Fenwick Street, Leonardtown for the reported Domestic Assault.
Investigation revealed Stephane Jaffres
and Theresa Ventre were involved in a domestic dispute. Ms. Ventre
assaulted Mr. Jaffres by slapping him in the back of the head. Mr.
Jaffres did not sustain any visible injuries as a result of the assault.
Both parties were advised of the procedures for obtaining charging
documents if desired.
Hit Him, Scratch Him, Go to Jail
LEONARDTOWN --- On 12/28/04 Deputy
J. Logalbo responded to Megan Lane, Leonardtown for the reported Domestic Assault.
Investigation revealed Dawn Phillips and Gregory Morris were involved in a domestic
dispute. Ms. Phillips
struck Mr. Morris several times and scratched him several times . Ms.
Phillips was subsequently arrested for Second Degree Assault and
incarcerated in the Detention Center pending an appearance before the
District Court Commissioner.
LA PLATA --- Sometime between 5 p.m. on Dec. 16 and 1:11 a.m. on Dec. 17, suspect(s) drove a U-Haul truck to J.C. Outboards and Marine service, removed the gate from the rear storage yard, stole a TroyBuilt snowblower and fled the scene. Double Dipping Midnight Auto Supply
WALDORF --- On Dec. 19 at 11:45 p.m., Charles County Sheriffs officers responded to Waldorf Chrysler and Jeep in the 11700 block of Business Park Drive in Waldorf for the theft report. Investigation revealed Marvin Marcus Fields, 33, of no fixed address entered a vehicle parked at the business and stole two floor mats and fled the scene. Officers did not immediately locate Fields, but Fields returned to the business and an employee notified the Sheriffs Office. Officers apprehended Fields at the business and charged him with Second Degree Burglary, two counts of Theft Less Than $500, Attempted Theft and Rogue & Vagabond. Fields is being held at the Charles County Detention Center pending an appearance before the District Court Commissioner. Officer P. Tona investigated.
Screwdriver Bandit Strikes Car Wash
WALDORF --- On Dec. 17 at 1:16 a.m., a suspect entered Sparkle Car Wash in the 3300 block of Leonardtown Road in Waldorf armed with a screwdriver, forced entry into a cash register and stole an undisclosed amount of money. The suspect is described as a black male about 40 years of age and is between 5 feet 9 inches and 5 feet 11 inches tall. He weighs approximately 210 pounds and was wearing a red shirt, dark pants, black tennis shoes and a black baseball cap with white trim. Run a Stop Sign; Run into a Cop
LA PLATA --- On Dec. 16 at 8:09 a.m., a 1997 Nissan Maxima was traveling westbound on Centennial Street at St. Marys Avenue in La Plata when the driver, Patrick John Haugh, 40, of Waldorf, failed to yield the right of way at a stop sign and collided with an unmarked Charles County Sheriffs Office cruiser driven by Det. G. Draheim. The Nissan then struck a 2004 BMW 325I that was stopped at a stop sign on eastbound Centennial Street. Neither the driver of the BMW Sharon Ann Thompson, 52, of La Plata, nor Haugh or Det. Draheim were injured.
Shatter Glass Avenue
WALDORF --- Sometime between 4:30 p.m. on Dec. 15 and 5 a.m. on Dec. 16, suspect(s) shattered the windows of three vehicles parked at separate addresses in the Pinefield area. The vehicles were parked in the 5900 block of Michael Road, the 5400 block of Lucy Road and the 6300 block of Josephine Road. The Twelve Days of Stealing Christmas
WALDORF --- While some Christmas displays get bigger so does the appetite of the heathen element. Charles County Sheriffs officers report that sometime between 1:45 a.m. and 7 a.m. on Dec. 12, suspect(s) stole three inflatable Christmas decorations from a residence in the 900 block of Barrington Drive in Waldorf. The decorations included a 12 foot tall snowman with a baby snowman attached to its back, an 11 and a half foot tall Christmas tree with a brown dog attached to it and a brown present. Driving While StonedCHAPTICO On 12/14/04, at 5:03 p.m., Tpr. P. A. Trossbach initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle at Route 5 and Route 238, in Helen for a traffic violation. Upon contact with the driver, a strong odor of burnt marijuana was emitting from the vehicle. The driver, Brian Scott Verbic, 18, of Leonardtown admitted to having marijuana in the vehicle and produced a plastic baggie containing suspected marijuana. Mr. Verbic was placed under arrest and charged with possession of marijuana and possession of CDS paraphernalia. Mr. Verbic was transported to the St. Marys County Detention Center pending a bond review.
Burglars Days and Burglar NightsGOLDEN BEACH On 12/16/04, at 5:13 p.m., Tpr. P. A. Trossbach responded to Hillview Drive in Mechanicsville for the reported burglary. Unknown suspect(s) had entered the residence through a previously broken window and removed property from the residence. The property is valued at $439. This investigation is continuing
Gone with The WindCHESAPEAKE BEACH --- On December 21st, 2004 at 8:54 pm, Calvert Deputy Morder responded to the 3500 block of Brookside Drive, Chesapeake Beach, Maryland for a reported theft, according to the Sheriffs Dept. He spoke with the victim who said unknown suspect(s) removed a 49cc silver mini-bike from the back yard of the home. There are no suspects at this time.

CHESAPEAKE BEACH --- Calvert Sheriffs spokesman Deputy Chip Allen reports that on December 25th, 2004 at 2:49 am, Dfc. Wilson conducted a traffic stop on Rt 261 in the area of 29th St., in Chesapeake Beach, Md. Investigation revealed the validation tab displayed on the vehicle tags was reported stolen from Prince Georges County, Md. The driver, Christopher W. Rothenberg, 24, of Chesapeake Beach, Md. was placed under arrest. A check of his drivers license revealed his privilege to drive in Maryland is suspended. He was charged with theft and driving while suspended. He was transported to the Calvert County Detention Center for processing.
Boozing and Drugging in One Horse Open Sleigh
HUNTINGTOWN --- On December 25th, 2004 at 2:53 am, Calvert Sheriffs Deputy Carter conducted a traffic stop on Plum Point Rd. in the area of Rt 4, Huntingtown, Md. Based on observations made during the stop the driver, Michael C. Hogan, 26, from Prince Frederick, Md. was placed under arrest for Driving Under the Influence. A search incident to arrest revealed a baggie containing suspected marijuana and a non-conventional smoking device in the center console of the vehicle. Hogan was charged with possession of CDS and possession of CDS parapheralia.

PRINCE FREDERICK --- On December 26th, 2004 at 11:27 am, Calvert Sheriffs Dfc Foote responded to Ralons Hallmark Store located at 129 West Dares Beach Road, Prince Frederick, Md. for a reported burglary. Unknown suspect(s) entered the store, ransacked it, removed cash and fled in an unknown direction. The Calvert Investigative Team is investigating.
Cocaine and Booze Make Better Offer for Jail
OWINGS --- On December 26th, 2004 at 10:00 pm, Calvert Sheriffs Dfc. Cress attempted to make a traffic stop on Rt 260 in the area of Brickhouse Rd., Owings, Md. A short chase ensued and the vehicle was stopped on Rt 2 in the area of Rt 260. The driver was removed from the car and a search of the driver revealed a metal smoking device containing suspected cocaine. Dfc Cress also detected a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage. Based on observations made during the stop the driver, Juan Sanchez Offer, 36, of Forestville, Md. was placed under arrest and charged with possession of CDS, possession of CDS paraphernalia, DUI, and driving while suspended. He was transported to the Calvert County Detention Center for processing.
On 12/7/04, at 12:45 p.m., TFC W. P. Goldston responded to a residence on Point Lookout Road in Leonardtown for the reported theft. The investigation revealed that unknown suspect(s) removed money and a credit card from the victims residence. This investigation is continuing.
On 12/14/04, at 2:05 p.m., Tpr. F. V. Dolinger served a criminal summons on Calvin Jerome Bell, 35, of Prince Frederick for 2nd degree assault. Mr. Bell is accused of assaulting an 18 year old female at a residence on New Market Turner Road on 11/9/04.

MECHANICSIVLLE --- Between 12/14/04 at 10:00 p.m. and 12/15/04 at 5:30 a.m., unknown suspect(s) destroyed five inflatable Christmas display decorations on a lawn located on Donna Drive in Mechanicsville. The decorations are valued at $750. TFC A. J. Malaspina is conducting this investigation.
Charge: Clopper Double Woman Bopper
HOLLYWOOD --- On 12/17/04, at 5:12 p.m., Tpr. F. V. Dolinger served a criminal summons on John Edward Clopper, 22, of Hollywood for two counts of second degree assault and one count of malicious destruction of property under $500. These charges stem from an incident which occurred on 11/13/04. Mr. Clopper is accused of assaulting two females at a residence in Hollywood and damaging a vehicle belonging to one of the victims.
Woman Charged with Beating Old Man
VALLEY LEE --- On 12/18/04, at 4:00 p.m., TFC A. J. Rossignol responded to Popular Hill Lane in Valley Lee for a reported disturbance. As a result of the investigation, Ana Marie Delatore, 51, of Valley Lee was placed under arrest and charged with 2nd degree assault on a 58 year old male at the residence. Ms. Delatore was transported to the St. Marys County Detention Center pending a bond hearing.

CALIFORNIA --- On 12/18/04, at 7:15 p.m., TFC A. J. Rossignol served a criminal summons on Sheila Juanita Sommerville, 29, of Great Mills for theft over $500. Ms. Sommerville is accused of the theft of over $500 in merchandise and cash from the J. C. Penneys Department Stores in California and Waldorf.
On 12/18/04, at 7:30 p.m., TFC A. J. Rossignol served a criminal summons on Michele Lynn Fenwick, 22, of Lexington Park for theft over $500. Ms. Fenwick is accused of the theft of over $500 in merchandise and cash from the J. C. Penneys Department Stores in California and Waldorf.

LEONARDTOWN ---On 12/20/04, at 9:00 p.m., TFC J. D. Vanhoy served a criminal summons on Kenneth Luther Greenidge, 36, of Mechanicsville for 2nd degree assault and 4th degree sex offense. Mr. Greenidge is accused of assaulting a 31 year old female at the McDonalds Restaurant in Leonardtown on 6/23/04 and 6/24/04.
Man Violated Judges Order to Stay Away
CALIFORNIA --- On 12/23/04, at 6:30 p.m., TFC M. A. Murphy responded to Laurel Glen Road in California for the reported disturbance. Further investigation revealed Christopher Lee Poteat, 28, of Lexington Park was in violation of a protective order and was placed under arrest. Mr. Poteat was transported to the St. Marys County Detention Center pending a bond hearing.
No Pay at the Register
LEXINGTON PARK --- Police say that on 12/29/04, at
1:15 p.m., Maryland State TFC J. L. Linger responded to the McKays Food and Drug
Store on Signature Drive in Lexington Park for the shoplifter in custody. The manager
advised that the suspect put items in her pocket and left the store without paying for the
merchandise. As a result, Gede Love Stewart, 30, of California was placed under arrest and
charged with theft under $100. Ms. Stewart was transported to the St. Marys County
Detention Center pending a bond hearing.
No Peace, No Freedom
LEONARDTOWN --- On 12-28-04 St. Marys County
Sheriffs Deputy DFC John W. K.
Cusic located Suspect Shonita Nicole Somerville and served with a
Warrant for Failing to Comply With a Peace Order. Suspect Somerville
contacted a female victim on 12-03-04 and in doing so she failed to obey
a Peace Order Stating that she was not to contact the victim. Suspect
Somerville was arrested, transported to the St. Marys County Detention
Center where she was charged with Failing to Comply with a Peace Order.
Suspect Somerville is currently awaiting a court date.
