Fatal Tractor-Trailer Accident on Rt 95 at Allentown Road

At 9:15 PM, Monday, November 22, 2004, units from the Prince George’s County Fire/EMS Department were alerted for a crash on the Outer Loop of the Capital Beltway 200 feet prior to Exit 9, Allentown Road.  Upon arrival units found a single vehicle accident involving an 18-wheel tractor-trailer.  The cab of the truck had slammed into the 15 to 18 foot brick sound barrier on the right hand side of the Beltway and then impacted a guardrail.  The severely damaged tractor cab then caught fire.  A section of the brick sound barrier was demolished upon impact.  The contents of the truck, individually bagged frozen chicken parts, spilled onto the highway during the crash.  The body of a deceased male was located in what remained of the tractor cab after the fire was extinguished.  Maryland State Police, Forestville Barracks, are investigating the accident.
