Park Hall:
Home Alone for Christmas
Burns To Ground

A local family away for Christmas will have nothing to come home to, reports ST. MARY'S TODAY action news photographer David Gray.  Gray was at the scene near Rt. 5 early Christmas morning when more than 40 firefighters from Bay District, Ridge, Hollywood, Pax River and Leonardtown arrived to battle a raging blaze that caused a total loss of the home of the Ken Broecker family.  The Broecker family left their home on Christmas Eve for a trip to Virginia reports Deputy State Fire Marshal Allen Ward.  Check back here Sunday night for exclusive photos of the fire scene.   The loss was estimated at $170,000 to the home located, ironically, on Spitfire Court in Park Hall, at a new home subdivision located on the site of the old Park Hall Airport.

Bay District volunteers were assisted by firefighters from Valley Lee, Leonardtown, Hollywood and Solomon's in fighting a working house fire in Maple Run on Magnolia Drive which broke out at 5 am Sunday. The fire totally destroyed the home, with $175,000 damage and the cause due to a candle left burning on a wicker table on the front porch, according to Deputy State Fire Marshal Maurice Cox. Firefighter Tommy Blazer was slightly hurt by a burning piece of drywall, according to Bay District Chief Rick Redmond.
Bay District Volunteer Fire Department started off originally as the Lexington Park Volunteer Fire Department at the old Cedar Point Trailer Camp during World War II.  The department now has two stations, with the California station opening in 1995 on Chancellors Run Road.
