TOWN INN FIRE --- Firefighters battled this fire in the old Town Inn building in the winter of 1995. Leonardtown was assisted by Hollywood, Mechanicsville, Bay District, Valley Lee and Avenue. The fire occurred during a long period of continuous ice storms and the roads and sidewalks were coated with ice during sub-freezing temperatures which further hampered their efforts. The building was gutted by the fire and was later torn down. A small park exists where the building once stood.
