Fire Caused by Candle Destroys Trailer

HERMANVILLE --- A fire ripped
through a 1975 mobile home in the Lexington Estates on Friday at about 4:47 am, according
to Deputy State Fire Marshal Chuck Dammann. The fire was caused by a candle left
unattended and totally destroyed the home. There was no operating smoke alarm,
reports the Fire Marshal. More than 30 firefighters from Bay District, Valley Lee,
Hollywood and Ridge responded to the fire which took 30 minutes to bring under control.
The home of Yvonne and Walter Ford, the 12 x 60 trailer was listed as being worth
$25,000 with another $35,000 in contents. The American Red Cross is assisting the
family which formerly lived in this now burned out trailer on Springhill Road.
