Fire Destroys Home
CHAPTICO ---  A fire attributed to a faulty power strip behind a television set in the living room of a single wide mobile home located on Chaptico Wharf Road left a family homeless on Thursday evening.

According to Deputy State Fire Marshals John Tennyson, Paul Schlotterbeck and John Nelson, the fire spread from the electrical malfunction and did $30,000 damage to the structure and $30,000 damage to the contents of the home owned by Mary Springstead without causing any injuries.

Firefighters from Mechanicsville and Seventh District volunteer fire departments brought the fire under control in about 10 minutes after the fire was discovered by the homeowner.
