FORMER PODIATRIST CHARGED WITH INSURANCE FRAUD, THEFT AND CONSPIRACY TO DISTRIBUTE NARCOTICS
Attorney General J. Joseph Curran, Jr., announced today the filing of criminal charges against Norman Greenberg of Owings Mills, Maryland, a former podiatrist. In a seven count indictment filed in the Circuit Court for Baltimore County, Greenberg, 56, was charged with felony insurance fraud, felony theft, conspiracy to commit insurance fraud and conspiracy to distribute narcotics. The indictment follows a joint investigation conducted by the Office of the Attorney General, the Insurance Fraud Division of the Maryland Insurance Administration, the Maryland State Police and the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration.
A criminal indictment is merely an accusation of wrongdoing and every individual is presumed innocent until the charges are proven by the State. For the insurance fraud and felony theft charges, the defendant faces 15 years per charge. He faces 20 years on the conspiracy to distribute narcotics charge. No trial date has been set.
