Gerald Leo Roberts of Mechanicsville, MD died on March 18, 2004 at George Washington University Hospital in Washington, DC after a long battle with leukemia. He was 54 years old. Photo

Gerald Roberts, loving known as “Jerry” was born in Houston, Texas on February 20, 1950. He was the son of the late Bernard and Marie Roberts.

Gerald was a long time resident of St. Mary’s County where he owned and operated Firemen’s Chimney Sweeps for over twenty years. His hobbies included tropical fish, ponds, trains, ships and spending time at his home with family and friends. He was once a member of the Mechanicsville Optimist Club.

He is survived by his wife Valli Roberts; three children Kimberly Rye, Kevin Roberts and Darlene Yurko; two step-children Devon O’Brien and Lindsay Bradley; one brother Dennis Roberts; eight grandchildren Alicia Ayers, Lynsey Rye, Kevin Roberts, MacKenzie Roberts, Gavin Yurko, Jeda Yurko, Madeline Bradley and Jack O’Brien.

Family will receive friends on Monday, March 22, 2004 from 6 to 8PM at the Brinsfield-Echols Funeral Home, P.A. 30195 Three Notch Road Charlotte Hall, Maryland with Prayers at 7PM. Mass of Christian Burial 9:30AM Tuesday, March 23, 2004 at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church Mechanicsville, Maryland with the Reverend Monsignor Paul Gozaloff officiating. Interment Charles Memorial Gardens in Leonardtown, Maryland. Pallbearers are Dennis Roberts, Kevin Roberts, Brian Rye, James Yurko, Mark O’Brien, Paul Dailey and Roger Stultz.
