ST. MARY’S TODAY

PINEY POINT --- Commissioner President Tommy McKay (R. Hollywood) was not allowed to the International Seafarers Union offices to greet President Bush on Tuesday as he was late in reaching there by 10.30 am Monday.

The Seafarer’s International Union, opened their doors for President Bush on Labor Day as many of the larger trade unions in the country do not agree with the president’s policies and did not invite Bush.

The Secret Services refused to let McKay in when he showed up the doors at Piney Point after 10.30 a.m. But McKay told fellow commissioners he was attending to more important relief work related to Ernesto’s destruction and got delayed.

Another commissioner, Kenny Dement (R. Piney Point) said he decided not to go as the function was just too time consuming for him.

“I had more than 400 signs posted. Most of them were blown off in the storm,” he said.

This correspondent also faced racial profiling when he went there late.
