Harold Aloysius Anderson

Harold Aloysius “Sticks” Anderson, Sr., 80, of Mechanicsville, MD formerly of Thompson Corner died April 30, 2005 in St. Mary’s Nursing Center. Born December 18, 1924 in Mechanicsville, MD he was the son of the late James Briscoe Anderson and Cora Eva Williams. He was preceded in death by his wife Juanita Marie Alvey Anderson on August 12, 2002 in Washington Hospital Center; whom he married on April 9, 1947 in St. John’s Catholic Church. He is survived by his children: Harold A. Anderson, Jr. and Charles P. Anderson both of Mechanicsville, MD; brothers and sisters: Robert Anderson of Clements, MD, Helen Thompson of Solomons, MD, Elva Wood of Leonardtown, MD, Albert Anderson, Gladys Barbar and Marie Chesley all of Mechanicsville, MD; seven grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Mr. Anderson graduated from Margaret Brent High School Class of 1944. He was a life long St. Mary’s County resident where he worked as a farmer until his retirement in 1976. His hobbies were farming, fishing, hunting and playing cards. The family will receive friends Wednesday, May 4 from 4:00 – 8:00 PM in the Mattingley-Gardiner Funeral Home, where prayers will be said at 7:00 PM. A Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, May 5 at 10:00 AM in the Mattingley-Gardiner Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Dale Skurla officiating. Interment will follow in Trinity Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be Chris Anderson, Brent Middleton, Mike Thompson, Bert Anderson, Bobby Anderson and Kevin Cusic. Honorary Pallbearers will be Carolyn Anderson, Sherri Anderson, Michelle Wilkinson and Kayla Anderson. Contributions may be made to Mechanicsville Volunteer Rescue Squad, P.O.
