HOLLYWOOD MAN SENTENCED TO 19 YEARS IN PRISON
FOR PRODUCING CHILD PORNOGRAPHY

GREENBELT, Maryland - Kenneth D. Barker, age 42, of Hollywood, Maryland, was sentenced last month to 19 years in prison followed 5 years of supervised release for enticing and coercing a minor female to engage in sexually explicit conduct to produce a visual depiction of such conduct, announced United States Attorney for the District of Maryland Rod J. Rosenstein.

United States Attorney Rod J. Rosenstein stated, "People who sexually abuse children and take pictures should assume that the pictures will one day be used against them in court as evidence of their crimes."

According to the statement of facts presented to the court as part of the plea agreement, on August 5, 2005, St. Mary's County Bureau of Criminal Investigations personnel searched Barker's home and seized a Sony digital Cybershot DSC-585 camera, Seagate external hard drive, Sony personal computer, Compaq Presario personal computer, and other computer equipment and assorted media. Barker used the equipment to manufacture, reproduce and store pornographic images of a minor female. Barker agreed to forfeit the equipment to the government.

A forensic examination of the defendant's computer hard drives, devices and related media revealed more than 600 pornographic images and videos of the minor victim. All of the images of the victim found on Barker's computer were taken when she was 12 to 15 years old.

United States Attorney Rod J. Rosenstein praised the investigative work performed by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the St. Mary's County Bureau of Criminal Investigations. Mr. Rosenstein also thanked Assistant U.S. Attorney Chan Park, who prosecuted the case.
