Hollywood Volunteer Fire Dept.:
Tall Tale of Wasted Money

Hollywood Vol. Fire Department Purchases Ladder Truck Despite 5 Ladder Trucks Available within 15 Minutes, Only 3 Tall Buildings in First Due Area. With little regard for the funds of the public spent to support the Hollywood Volunteer Fire Department, both in tax bills on local real estate and voluntary contributions, the young members of the Hollywood Fire Department have blown an untold amount of money on a new ladder truck.   Hollywood is surrounded by other fire companies who have ladder trucks and can rush these trucks to cover any fire in the Hollywood first due area.  Ladder trucks are located at the NAS fire department, Bay District Lexington Park station, Bay District California station, Leonardtown and Solomon's.  Sources tell ST. MARY'S TODAY that the younger firefighters are hell bent to simply keep up with the Joneses and with only three buildings with more than 2 floors, the purchase is just a big waste of money.    wpeD7.jpg (6727 bytes)
