Horse Killed in Attack by Dog
PRINCE FREDERICK --- Calvert Sheriff's spokesman Deputy Chip Allen reports this gruesome story
In the afternoon hours of April 8th, 2004 in the 1900 block of Old Adelina Rd. Calvert Animal Control Officer Dichter and Calvert Deputy Shrawder responded to a report of an injured horse. Investigation revealed the horse had been attacked in its stall by what is believed to have been a forty to fifty pound dog. The horse later succumbed to its injuries. After an extensive search of the area the dog has not been located. Citizens in the Old Adelina Road should be aware and should contact the Sheriffs Office immediately if they observe any dogs that appear to be injured or have signs of blood on them. Citizens should not attempt to capture the dog, however they do have the right to protect themselves, livestock and pets from any aggressive dog. Anyone with information on this case should contact the Calvert County Sheriffs Office at 410-535-2800.
