Hoyer Condemns Racist Graffiti, As Democrats Back Simms
ST. MARY’S TODAY
WALDORF --- Congressman Steny H. Hoyer (D-MD) has expressed his deep concern at incidents that raise the specter of racism in Southern Maryland, the same day he endorsed Stuart Simms as the most qualified candidate for Maryland Attorney General.
“I am for Simms,” Hoyer said at a meeting at Waldorf.
Senate president Mike Miller also showered praise on Simms.
Hoyer said others who have endorsed Simms include senator Roy Dyson and Mac Middleton.
On his part, Simms made a pledge he would try to end drug gangs destroying young peoples lives. He said students in fourth and fifth grades were being exposed to drug gangs and said he will work closely with federal authorities to bust the drug gangs.
“I believe Simms is the most qualified candidate by virtue of his education, personality and character,” Hoyer told Southern Maryland legislators and others running for office who endorsed Simms.
Hoyer was
briefed by representatives of the Charles County Sheriff's Department about incidents of racist graffiti on Bryans Road.Hoyer said, “We must unequivocally combat racism and intolerance wherever it rears its ugly head.”
Simms said he would run barefoot all over Maryland, if the need be, to show his keen interest in the race.
“Thoughtfulness” Hoyer said is one of Simms biggest assets.
