Jailbird Fails to Return to Nest
CHARLOTTE HALL —- An inmate, Jerald Anthony Erby, 28 years, of Temple Hills,
left the Southern Maryland Pre-Release Unit in Charlotte Hall but failed to
return. An investigation revealed he responded to his place of employment in
Charlotte Hall and returned his work uniforms. Erby is described as a black
male, 5' 8", 180 pounds, black hair and brown eyes. Anyone with information
about him is being asked to contact 301-392-1200.
Stolen Van Traded-in With Car Same Day
FORESTVILLE —- A warrant was served on Lamario Lakeluin McKinnon, 27 years, of
Forestville, for a theft that occurred on December 19 last year. According to
Maryland State Police, McKinnon went to Gold Star Cars at approximately 10:15 am
to purchase a vehicle. He took a 1998 Dodge Caravan SE, valued at $2500, for a
test drive and never returned it. Five hours later, McKinnon went to Sheehy Auto
Stores and left the Dodge Caravan as a trade-in while he took a 2004 Nissan
Maxima, valued at $6500, on a test drive. McKinnon never returned with the
Nissan Maxima. He is charged with theft over $500 and unlawful taking of a motor
vehicle.
Armed Men Rob Woman in Her Driveway
WALDORF — Two armed men followed a young woman riding a VanGO bus to her home,
took her purse at gunpoint and fled, according to the Charles County Sheriff’s
Department. The Sheriff’s deputies said on Jan. 12 at 9:19 pm, Charles County
patrol officers responded to a residence in the 7600 block of Bensville Road in
Waldorf for the report of an armed robbery. Investigation revealed an
18-year-old woman exited a VanGO bus in front of her residence and was walking
down her driveway when two male suspects exited a vehicle that had been
traveling behind the bus and confronted the woman.
The suspects brandished a shotgun and a handgun and demanded the woman’s purse.
The woman complied and the two suspects returned to their vehicle and sped
toward Billingsley Road. The suspects are described as black males between 18
and 23 years old wearing bandannas around their faces. The suspect with the
handgun is 5 feet 5 inches tall and weighs 145 pounds. The suspect with the
shotgun is 6 feet tall and weighs 200 pounds. The vehicle is possibly an
older-model, four-door Ford Crown Victoria. Anyone with information please call

Teenager Rams Car into Rear of School Bus
POMFRET — A 16-year-old girl rammed her car in the rear of a school bus,
but all aboard the bus and the driver escaped unhurt. On January 12 at 2:34 pm,
a 2003 Chevrolet Cavalier driven by a 16-year-old Waldorf girl was stopped
behind a Charles County Public Schools bus on Middletown Road at the
intersection of Marshalls Corner Road in Pomfret. But she removed her foot from
the brake and her Cavalier struck the rear of the bus. A school aid, two
students and the driver, a 44-year-old Bryans Road woman were on the bus at the
time of the wreck.
Woman With Weeds in Purse Arrested
WALDORF — An unbelted woman had marijuana in her purse, Maryland State Police
said. They said on the evening of January 16, A vehicle traveling northbound on
U.S. Rt. 301 at MD Rt. 925 was stopped for an occupant in the vehicle not
wearing seatbelt. Upon contact with the driver, troopers smelled burnt marijuana
from the vehicle. A probable cause search of the vehicle revealed the passenger,
Christen Marie Siarmalis, 18 years, of Waldorf, had suspected marijuana in her
purse and drug paraphernalia on
her person. Siarmalis was arrested and charged with possession of marijuana and
possession of drug paraphernalia. Troopers said they helped the woman find her
lodging and boarding at the Charles County Detention Center.
Like Mother, Like Son?
LEONARDTOWN — A mother angered over her daughter in-law taking her son to court
on assault charges, was arrested for disorderly conduct. Maryland State Police
said on January 5, at 12:50 pm, TFC T. Quade was leaving court when he was
contacted by the victim of an assault case. The victim advised that the
suspect’s mother, Candy Maxine Carroll, 43, of Park Hall, had been in court and
she was afraid Carroll would be waiting for her outside of court.
TFC Quade escorted the victim out of the building and Carroll was observed
parked near the entrance. Carroll began yelling profanities at the victim, which
drew the attention of several citizens in the area. As TFC Quade approached
Carroll’s vehicle, she began backing up and continued yelling profanities. TFC
Quade made contact with Carroll and advised her she needed to leave in an
orderly fashion. But the angry woman put the vehicle in drive, lurched forward,
stopped and continued to yell. She was arrested and charged with Disorderly
Conduct. She was shifted to the St. Mary’s County Detention Center.
Winds More Powerful Than Hambone Ambition
HOLLYWOOD — Maryland State Police said on January 14, at 5:12 pm, Tpr. M. Moore
responded to McKay’s Food Store, California, for reported property damage.
Investigation revealed that during the high winds an aluminum carport broke free
and struck several vehicles causing minor damage. Damage was also caused to a
vehicle by shopping carts that were blown around.
Fisherman Killed in Boat, Tug Collision
BALTIMORE – A man on a fishing boat was killed after a collision with a tug boat
but two others were recovered from the waters after the accident, according to
the U.S. Coast Guard. The Coast Guard said three people were recovered from the
water on Tuesday after a collision between a tug boat and a fishing boat. Coast
Guard controllers received a report 2 p.m. that there was a collision between
the tug Richard Lowry and a fishing boat in the vicinity of the Francis Scott
Key Bridge in the Patapsco River.
A rescue crew from Coast Guard station Curtis Bay was at the scene within five
minutes and recovered one of the men. Two Good Samaritans in the area picked up
the other two men. Vincent Lee Jordan, Sr., 56, was pronounced dead at Bay View.
His son, Vincent Lee Jordan, Jr., 33, is in stable condition at Bay View. Dale
Edward Monroe, 31, is in stable condition at Mercy Hospital. The Coast Guard is
investigating the incident.
DC Boy Preying on Waldorf Cars Held With $4000 Stolen Stereos
WALDORF — A 16-year-old Washington DC boy suspected of breaking into cars parked
at a school ground in Waldorf was arrested after a vehicular chase, but his
accomplice escaped on foot. According to Charles County Sheriff’s Department, on
Thursday Officer P. Anderson, a juvenile intervention officer assigned to
Westlake High School at 3300 Middletown Road in Waldorf, observed two males who
had been suspected of breaking into vehicles at the school. When Officer
Anderson approached them, they fled in a van.
The Sheriff’s Office dispatched a lookout and officers saw the van on Middletown
Road. The officers attempted to stop the van, but it continued to flee at high
speed. The vehicle turned west onto Berry Road, where Sgt. A. Proctor deployed
stop sticks. The van struck the stop sticks as it attempted to enter Prince
George’s County and became disabled.
As the van stopped, the occupants tried to flee on foot. Officers quickly
apprehended the driver but did not locate the passenger. When officers arrested
the driver, a 16-year-old Washington, D.C., boy, he was allegedly in possession
of approximately $4,000 worth of stereo equipment. Investigation revealed the
was allegedly involved in numerous thefts from vehicles at Westlake High School.
He was charged with theft, fourth degree burglary and numerous traffic
violations. Officer Anderson is continuing the investigation.
