Local oyster grower Rich Pelz will lead the seminar and hands-on demonstration outlining opportunities for homeowners to help clean the Chesapeake Bay by growing oysters or by directly supporting a local oyster farm. Kimball convinced Mercantile Southern Maryland bank president Lloyd Harrison to wipe out the $3,500 it had on their books it was holding Connie responsible for as a result of the interstate scam for which she fell victim. The bank canceled the balance after Kimball went to the bank and struck a deal which involves him making another $1,000 contribution to the Second District Vol. Fire Dept. Kimball, a local builder and a U.S. Marine, said he hopes others will find it in their hearts to help Connie too. "She was hoping to win the lottery and instead she got a big mess," said Kimball, "many of us are able to count our blessings and my wife and I are glad to be able to help Connie and we are going Christmas shopping for her grandchildren tomorrow, they are boys, ages 2 and 6." Connie Hewlett told ST. MARY'S TODAY that she had prayed for help this morning. "I had no way to make my car payment or to pay for my medicine, these night pills keep my legs from jumping and I need them bad," said Hewlett. "Also I wanted to be able to buy my grandsons presents, I never dreamed I would have this help, I want to thank Chuck and to thank God for answering my prayers." Park policewoman nabs killer in Tennessee; also gets him for DWI Calvert Sheriff Mike Evans reports that Graham Buckmaster was spotted in the Cumberland National Park by a park police officer as he was traveling in the same vehicle in which he fled Maryland following the murder of his girlfriend. Extradition papers have been drawn up and charges for first and second degree murder are pending. Man Caught After Foot Chase LEXINGTON PARK --- An earlier incident in Lexington Park brought police cars screaming into Sin City from all over when a deputy asked for assistance in a foot chase in Nicolet Park with a wanted subject. The deputy caught up with the wanted man and the collar was made. |

![]() Fire KO's Laundromat ...just for a few days CALLAWAY --- A fire caused by floor cleaning materials stored too close to a furnace in a mechanical room started a fire in the Callaway Laundromat Wednesday around noon setting off a multiple commercial box alarm with Bay District stations 9 and 3 along with Leonardtown arriving to assist Valley Lee volunteers in putting out the fire and ventilating the nearby stores and offices which were affected by heavy smoke. The fire was contained largely to the mechanical room, said owner Greg Callaway. The Laundromat and dry cleaners should reopen for business within a few days as repairs are completed. Driver Flees Wreck
A hit and run driver fled after wrecking into
this car on Chancellors Run Road late on Thursday night, at the
intersection with Sayre Road. The victim is being assisted
by Lexington Park Vol. Rescue Squad personnel and Bay District
firefighters.

Boozing Bozo Goes to Jail
After Wreck
This driver is under arrest for DWI at the Pegg's Road Shellmart
after he slammed into the rear end of another vehicle stopped
for a red light. The driver will go to the slammer
overnight, spend about $1,500 on a lawyer, see his insurance
rates skyrocket, but what the heck, its all worth it! The
DWI driver was arrested by Tfc. Thomas Quade, right, according
to Cpl. Roger Redmond of the Maryland State Police. He is
identified as Gary Craddock Harrison, 34, of North Carolina.
