Angel Visits Connie with Christmas Green: $1,000
Hats off to Mercantile for seeing the light and tearing up the debt owed by Connie Hewlett
builder convinces Scrooge banker to relent and wipe out debt owed by woman
Chuck Kimball, who dug into his own pocket, convinces Mercantile to relent on dunning double amputee.  Lloyd "Scrooge" Harrison says he can't say what action the bank has taken in regards to Connie's account but told ST. MARY'S TODAY Ace News Reporter Ahmar Khan "I have been led to believe that her Christmas will be merry.  My door is always open for customers - call, write, email or a personal visit."

Chuck Kimball, left, with Connie Hewlett Copyright ST. MARY'S TODAY
Chuck Kimball, of Tall Timbers arrived at Connie Hewlett's home in Hollywood today with a gift from him and his wife July, a thousand dollars.  Kimball convinced Mercantile Southern Maryland bank president Lloyd Harrison to wipe out the $3,500 it had on their books it was holding Connie responsible for as a result of the interstate scam for which she fell victim.  The bank canceled the balance after Kimball went to the bank and struck a deal which involves him making another $1,000 contribution to the Second District Vol. Fire Dept.    Kimball, a local builder and a U.S. Marine, said he hopes others will find it in their hearts to help Connie too.
"She was hoping to win the lottery and instead she got a big mess," said Kimball, "many of us are able to count our blessings and my wife and I are glad to be able to help Connie and we are going Christmas shopping for her grandchildren tomorrow, they are boys, ages 2 and 6."
Connie Hewlett told ST. MARY'S TODAY that she had prayed for help this morning. "I had no way to make my car payment or to pay for my medicine, these night pills keep my legs from jumping and I need them bad," said Hewlett.  "Also I wanted to be able to buy my grandsons presents, I never dreamed I would have this help, I want to thank Chuck and to thank God for answering my prayers."
