John Clements “Clem” Tippett

John Clements “Clem” Tippett, 86, of Hollywood, MD died February 28, 2005 in Calvert Memorial Hospital. Born April 29, 1918 in Maddox, MD he was the son of the late Elizabeth Cecilia Morgan and George William Tippett. He is survived by his brother Francis Webster Tippett of Hollywood, MD. He was preceded in death by his brothers and sister: Thomas Albert Tippett, John Walter Tippett, Joseph Daniel Tippett, George William Tippett and Mary Eva Higgs. Mr. Tippett was a life long St. Mary’s County resident where he owned and operated Tippett’s Texaco until his retirement January 1, 1987. He served in the U.S. Army for 4 years. He was past commander of the American Legion and also sponsored girl’s softball and volleyball. The family received friends on Thursday, March 3 in the Mattingley-Gardiner Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, March 4 at 10:00 AM in St. John’s Catholic Church, Hollywood, MD with Father Raymond Schmidt officiating. Interment will follow in Queen of Peace Cemetery, Helen, MD. Pallbearers will be Joe Tippett, Alvin Tippett, Jr., Jimmy Higgs, Wayne Bean, Calvin Tippett and Mike Tippett.
