Joseph Aloysius “Joe Buck” Maddox

Joseph Aloysius “Joe Buck” Maddox, Sr., 62, of Leonardtown, MD died April 20, 2005 in Genesis Eldercare in La Plata, MD. Born April 30, 1942 in Bushwood, MD he was the son of late Mary Eleanor and Harold Joseph Maddox. He was preceded in death by his wife Mary Alice Maddox whom he married on April 29, 1965 in Holy Angels Catholic Church. He is survived by his children: Sharon Thomas, Joseph Maddox, Jr. and Latisha Maddox all of Lexington Park MD; Alice Stewart and Katina Maddox both of Leonardtown, MD; 13 grandchildren and 5 step-grandchildren. He is also survived by his brothers and sisters: Barbara Neale, James Lee Maddox and John F. Maddox all of Fort Washington, MD; Joyce E. Maddox and Linda M. Allen both of Temple Hills, MD; George V. Maddox of Valley Lee, MD; Mary I. Clark of Avenue, MD; Doris M. Farmer of North Carolina; Phyllis Stephenson of Largo, MD; and Roy M. Maddox of Mechanicsville, MD. Also surviving him is his son in-law: Donald Thomas; daughter in-law: Charlene Maddox; sister in-law: Catherine Stewart and brother in-law: William Stewart. He was also preceded in death by his brother: Harold I. Maddox. Mr. Maddox was a graduate of Banneker High School Class of 1959. He worked as a brick layer for United Masonry until his retirement in 1982. His hobbies were going to dances, parties, baseball games, playing with his grandkids and playing lotteries. The family will receive friends on Sunday, April 24 in the Mattingley-Gardiner Funeral Home from 2:00 – 5:00 PM with Prayers being said at 3:00 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, April 25 at 10:00 AM in St. Aloysius Catholic Church with Father Rory Conley officiating. Interment will follow in Charles Memorial Gardens.
