Lawrence Joseph Miles
Lawrence Joseph Miles, 58, of Owings, Maryland, died on Monday, November 29th, 2004 at Calvert Memorial Hospital in Prince Frederick, Maryland. Larry was born on February 23, 1946 in Washington, D.C. He is survived by his beloved wife, Joyce Friend Miles, daughters, Marissa Victoria Miles and Katelyn Kristina Miles, brother, Steven Miles and wife, Mary and sisters, Victoria Iadarola and Veronica Disney.
Larry was a life-long resident of Calvert County, Maryland. He graduated Calvert High School in 1964. Larry served in the U.S. Air Force from 1964 to 1969 as a photographer. Following his military service, Larry graduated from George Washington University with a masters degree. Larry worked for the Prince Georges County Public Schools for 27 years including 7 of those years as a Vice Principal at Friendly High School in Fort Washington, Maryland. He was also a member of Saint Anthony Catholic Church in North Beach, Maryland and the American Legion Post #206 in Chesapeake Beach, Maryland.
His hobbies included photography, stamp collecting, deer hunting, watching movies and current events and trivia. He loved World War II history. But most of all, Larry loved children and telling great stories.
A memorial gathering was held at the Lee Funeral Home Calvert, 8125 Southern Maryland Blvd. (Route 4 & Fowler Road), Owings, Maryland on Friday, December 3rd from 2 4 pm & 6 8 pm. A Memorial Mass was celebrated at Saint Anthonys Catholic Church in North Beach, Maryland on Saturday, December 4th at 10:00 a.m. with Father David Russell officiating. Inurnment will be private.
