LEXINGTON PARK WOMAN CHARGED WITH ARSON

LEXINGTON PARK, MD (September 5, 2006) --  Deputy State Fire Marshals have charged a St. Mary’s County woman with first degree arson in connection with an August 30, 2006 fire that caused an estimated $1,000 damage to a Lexington Park mobile home.  Rosalind Fields, age 26, is being held at the Calvert County Detention Center awaiting a bail review before the District Court.

The investigation revealed a domestic dispute developed between the defendant and the primary occupant of the home, a Mr. Leroy Hicks.  The defendant was directed to move from the home and on August 30, 2006, it is alleged that after removing her belongings she ignited a trash container in the kitchen and left the home.

Firefighters from Bay District responded to the 5:58 p.m. blaze and were able to control it quickly.  There were no injuries.

The defendant was taken into custody on September 1, 2006 without incident at the Prince Frederick Barracks of the Maryland State Police.
