The
Luck of the Irish ran out: man charged with
DWI by St. Mary's deputy after St. Patty's Day partying
CALIFORNIA --- Where, oh where did McKalvia
imbibe? Was it over at Solomon's where such responsible establishments
such as Catamarans spend so much time and effort at keeping patrons from
becoming intoxicated? Or ABC Liquors where great care is taken to be
sure that everyone leaving this bar never drives away while drunk? While
you might doubt the efforts of these two local party places at preventing drunk
driving, you shouldn't doubt the ability of those who wish to show their loyalty
to becoming saturated with booze tinted with green beer.
Various police agencies throughout Southern Maryland set up sobriety checkpoints
for determining if drivers were intoxicated as they made their way on local
roadways on St. Patrick's Day.
St. Mary's Sheriff's Sgt. Eric Sweeney reports that just after midnight, at
approximately 0210 hours, Deputy Timothy D. Reese
initiated a traffic stop on Three Notch Road in California. The driver was
identified as David Brian McKalvia, 38, of California. Dep.
Reese detected an odor of an alcoholic beverage on the breath of McKalvia.
McKalvia failed to satisfactorily complete field sobriety tests and was
subsequently placed under arrest and charged with Driving Under the Influence of
Alcohol.
