MAN ARRESTED AFTER BARRICADE INCIDENT

(Lusby, MD) – A Calvert County man is in custody and awaiting charges after troopers and deputies responded to the family residence early this morning and found him wrestling with his wife over a handgun.  Norman Shelton Fuller is currently in the custody of the Calvert Investigative Team (Maryland State Police in conjunction with the Calvert County Sheriffs Department).  Ivory Francis Fuller was questioned and released.

The man is a 33 year-old resident of Lusby. MD. He faces a multitude of criminal charges in connection with the incident.  The woman, also a 33 year old resident of Lusby, faces criminal charges in relation to the incident.

At approximately 8:30: a.m., the couple’s son called the Maryland State Police Barrack in Prince Frederick. The Calvert Control Center then gave a general broadcast for a domestic-related incident at 11628 of Big Sandy Run Road.  Both troopers and deputies responded to the residence.

A Calvert County deputy was monitoring radio activity, was the first to arrive at the residence.  Additional law enforcement personnel arrived moments later, and they all approached the residence.  The deputy approached the front door of the residence. He observed the male suspect physically restraining the female, with a handgun in his hand.  He refused the verbal commands of law enforcement personnel to release the victim, and a brief barricade scenario unfolded.   A second deputy was positioned by the front door then had verbal contact with both parties in the residence.

Approximately 12 minutes had elapsed, when both subjects exited the residence and surrendered to authorities.  There were no injuries to either party involved in the incident.  When checked, investigators located several weapons throughout the residence.  The couple was reportedly scheduled to attend a domestic violence hearing today in District Court regarding the status of a Protective Order that Mrs. Fuller had applied for against Mr. Fuller.

The Calvert Investigative Team is continuing the investigation.  Further inquiries may be directed to Deputy J. Angle at 410-535-1600 Ext. 2456. Please refer to case # 06-83-012537.
