ST. INIGOES & LEXINGTON PARK---
Police were busy on Friday night and early Saturday morning dealing with the
traditional problems of two of the area's most outrageous bars, Monks Inn and
the Brass Rail. Big fights were the reason for police responses with shots
reported fired at Monks Inn. Police reported a man with a gun outside the Monks
Inn at St. Inigoes while a third call for a police officer in trouble at the
IHOP triggered yet another All Cars response to help an officer who was
attempting to clear out the IHOP parking lot of a large crowd.
UPDATE --- St. Mary's Sheriff's Cpl. Jeff McLane
reports that the man, Bryant Alexander Harris, 23, of Lexington Park, who had
been involved in a fight at Monks Inn, went out to his vehicle to get his gun,
where all gun-toting bar hoppers are expected to keep their weapons when going
out drinking, and used it to fire a shot in the air. Harris then fled the scene
with a friend. Police believed that Harris was still in a nearby field and
called in Trooper 7 to light the area from the air while a search was conducted.
While Dfc. Fleenor and his K-9 dog searched the area for the gunman, another
deputy searched Harris' vehicle and found a cell phone and several other items
related to the gun. Harris was called and agreed to meet Deputies Eric Walker
and Fleenor at the Hermanville Mobil where he surrendered and was arrested on
the charge of reckless endangerment. A search of the area at a later time
revealed the gun.
In the IHOP incident, two local motor mouths were arrested for attempting to
wrestle a gun away from one officer and the second man for disorderly conduct as
officers attempted to disperse the large crowd of unruly drunks who gather there
after bars in the area close. For the wrestling award, Andre Marquis Briscoe,
22, was sent to the slammer where he can wrestle with the really big guys and
the guy with the jet lips was identified as Samuel
Lee Payne, 18, of Lexington Park. Assisting in the IHOP riot were Deputies
Labanowski, Trossbach, Carberry, MSP Cpl. Craig Tyer and off duty troopers who
were working at the IHOP but were unable to control the crowd.
