Man Charged with Giving
Woman Brutal Beating; Firing Shotgun
MECHANICSVILLE --- On 08/25/04 Deputy Jay Kirkner responded to Cox Drive, Mechanicsville
for a reported assault. Contact was made with the victim Trina Lynn Vagell who advised her
ex-boyfriend had pointed a shotgun at her and threatened to kill. Deputy Kirkner's
investigation revealed that the suspect pointed a 12 gauge shotgun at the victim
threatened to kill her and struck her numerous times with his fists causing bruises to her
chest, legs and back. The suspect also fired the shotgun in the air outside the residence.
Deputy Kirkner and DFC Emory Johnson located the suspect Ilija Pusica Dulovich Jr of
Mechanicsville and arrested him. He was charged with First Degree Assault, 2nd Degree
Assault and Reckless Endangerment. He was incarcerated awaiting a bond hearing.
