Man Critical When Hit by Truck;
Drinking Walking Cause, Say Police
LEXINGTON PARK --- At about 8:31 pm on Friday a man
who police say had been drinking walked out into Great Mills Road and was struck
by a pickup truck.
William F. Scriber, 55, of Morganza was walking across Rt. 246 in front of
Raley's Furniture and into the path of a Ford F 150 pickup and was critically
injured. Scriber was flown out by Maryland State Police Med-Evac
helicopter Trooper Seven to PG Shock trauma. The driver of the truck
was identified as Sylvester W. Ball, 52, of Lexington Park. Ball was not
injured and no charges were placed against him, as police believe the fault was
on the part of the pedestrian. Police report that Ball was not
speeding.
