 Man Dead After Being in Middle of Road

PRINCE FREDERICK --- On August 19 at 2:04 a.m. the Calvert County Sheriff’s Office Crash Reconstruction Unit responded to Dares Beach Road and Armory Road in Prince Frederick for a report of a pedestrian struck in the roadway.  Upon arrival, members discovered a black male, identified as John Vincent Medley, 42 of St. Mary’s County, in an unconscious state suffering from life-threatening injuries.  Initial investigation showed that Medley was in the roadway on Dares Beach Road when he was struck by an unknown vehicle that fled the scene.  Medley was pronounced dead at the scene.  The investigation is continuing.  Anyone with information is asked to call Det./Sgt. Crack Up of Relationship

St. Mary's Sheriff's Lt. Daniel Alioto reports that on August 18th 2006, Senior Deputy First Class Robert A. Russell responded to the call for a domestic dispute. Investigation revealed Suspect Francis Xavier Hill (Age 36 of California, Md.) began smoking crack cocaine in the presence of his girlfriend and the she attempted to stop him. There was a struggle and neither party was injured. Deputy Russell recovered $40.00 worth of crack cocaine and the Suspect was arrested and charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance.

 

HATE CRIME: On Aug. 19 at 4:10 p.m., Charles County Sheriff’s officers responded to the 5800 block of Goode Road in Hughesville for the report of racial graffiti spray painted on a house under construction. Investigation revealed suspect(s) entered the residence sometime between Aug. 14 and Aug. 18 and painted two swastikas and other illegible words and symbols on the concrete floor. A spray paint can was recovered from the residence and submitted for forensic processing. Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact the Charles County Sheriff’s Office at 301-932-7777. Officer P. McPherson is investigating. This does not appear to be related to the recent graffiti incident in Bryans Road.

 

INTOXICATED DRIVER: On Aug. 19 at 1:05 a.m., Officer J. Clagett conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle traveling south on Leonardtown Road near Renner Road, because the taillights on the vehicle were inoperative. Investigation revealed the driver, Timika Danielle Stewart, 22, of Bushwood, Md., was intoxicated. She was arrested and charged with driving while impaired and driving under the influence. Stewart was being held at the Charles County Detention Center pending her appearance before the district court commissioner.

 

MOTOR VEHICLE CRASH: On Aug. 17 at 3:23 p.m., Charles County Sheriff’s officers responded to the 8400 block of Marshall Corner Road in Pomfret for the motor vehicle crash. Investigation revealed an eastbound 2004 Cadillac Deville attempted to turn left in front of a westbound 1999 Mercury Sable and the vehicles collided. The driver of the Deville, Jackson David Brown, 65, of White Plains, was not injured. The driver of the Sable, Lisa Carol Makowelski, 45, of La Plata, sustained non-life-threatening, incapacitating injuries and was transported by ambulance to Civista Medical Center. Brown was issued a traffic citation for failure to yield the right of way while making a left turn. Officer R. Glover of the Traffic Operations Unit investigated.

 

BURGLARY: On Aug. 16 at approximately 11:30 a.m., Charles County Sheriff’s officers responded to a residence in the 4000 block of Clarice Place in Nanjemoy for the burglary report. Investigation revealed Troy Dwayne Farmer, 22, of La Plata entered the residence through a window after making threats to the homeowner, a 22-year-old woman whom he knows. Farmer was still on the scene when officers arrived and was subsequently arrested. He was charged with third- and fourth-degree burglary and trespassing and was being held at the Charles County Detention Center pending an appearance before a district court commissioner. Officer J. THEFT: Sometime between 8:30 p.m. Aug. 11 and 6:30 a.m. Aug. 12, suspect(s) stole items from the Swan Point Golf Course located at 11550 Swan Point Boulevard in Swan Point. The items have a value of more than $500. Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact the Charles County Sheriff’s Office at 301-932-2222. Officer R. Kimble is investigating.

 

BURGLARY: On Aug. 5 at 10:26 p.m., Charles County Sheriff’s officers responded to Gallant Green Bar located at 14901 Woodville Road in Waldorf for the report of a burglary. Investigation revealed suspect(s) gained entry into the business overnight by unknown means and stole a large quantity of cigarettes. The suspect(s) then fled the scene. A photograph of the suspect was obtained from the businesses surveillance camera and can be viewed on the Sheriff’s Office’s Web site at www.ccso.us. Anyone with information about this incident or who may recognize the suspect in the photograph is asked to contact Officer K. PROPERTY DESTRUCTION: Sometime between 2:30 a.m. and 11 a.m. July 29, suspect(s) punctured the front tires on a 1981 Chevrolet Silverado and cut its vinyl seats. The truck was unlocked and parked on Oak Street in Indian Head. Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact the Charles County Sheriff’s Office at 301-932-7777. Officer J. PROPERTY DESTRUCTION: The Charles County Sheriff’s Office is investigating two reports of property destruction in Nanjemoy that may be related. Sometime between 9 p.m. and 11:55 p.m. July 28, suspect(s) punctured the left rear tire on a 2003 Dodge Ram parked in the driveway of a residence in the 3000 block of Baptist Church Road. The suspect(s) also cut the strings attaching a volleyball net to its poles. Sometime between 9:30 p.m. July 28 and 5:20 a.m. July 29, suspects punctured the left rear tire on another 2003 Dodge Ram parked in the 2900 block of Baptist Church Road. RECOVERED STOLEN VEHICLES: On July 23 at 5:58 a.m., Charles County Sheriff’s officers responded to a residence in the 2200 block of Dryden Court in Waldorf for the report of a stolen vehicle. Investigation revealed the victim heard a loud noise, looked outside and saw her 1999 Dodge Intrepid being driven away. Police communications officers dispatched a lookout for the vehicle and officers located it traveling on Acton Lane toward Crain Highway. They attempted to stop the vehicle but the driver refused and the vehicle continued into Prince George’s County. Another officer deployed stop sticks on Branch Avenue near Burch Hill Road in Clinton. The vehicle struck the stop sticks and stopped in a grass median at the intersection of Surratts Road and Branch Avenue. The two occupants fled the vehicle on foot but were quickly apprehended. They were identified as a 16-year-old Capitol Heights boy and a 16-year-old Clinton boy and were charged as juveniles with motor vehicle theft, theft valued at more than $500, unauthorized use of a motor vehicle and theft scheme valued at more than $500. The Clinton boy, who was driving the vehicle, was also charged with fleeing police in a vehicle, fleeing police on foot and reckless driving.

 

Officers later linked the accused to additional motor vehicle thefts including a 1999 Dodge Caravan that was parked in front of a residence in Prince George’s County. Charles County Sheriff’s officers recovered the Caravan in the 10500 block of Beechwood Drive in Waldorf on July 23 at 8 a.m. after a citizen called to report it was parked there and looked suspicious. The accused also stole a 2000 Dodge Neon parked outside a residence in the 10700 block of Cedarwood Drive in Waldorf sometime after 10:15 p.m. July 22.

 

The accused were additionally charged with two counts each of motor vehicle theft, unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, theft valued at more than $500, theft scheme valued at more than $500 and rogue and vagabond. They are believed to be involved in other thefts in Prince George’s County as well. Officers E. Baker, J. Williams, M. Kennedy and J. Timko investigated.
