Man Dead in Calvert Wreck

DUNKIRK - On Saturday, October 7, 2006, at approximately 2:20 AM, a single motor vehicle fatal crash occurred on MD Rt. 260
 near Journey Drive, Dunkirk, Calvert County, Maryland.  Preliminary investigation has revealed that a 2005 Chevrolet Tahoe
operated by Richard J. Abela (age 28 of Chesapeake Beach, MD) was traveling east on MD Rt. 260.   Mr. Abela failed to remain
in the lane and traveled onto the right shoulder and right roadside where his vehicle struck several fixed objects before coming
 to a final rest.  Mr. Abela, who was the sole occupant, was pronounced dead at the scene.  Contributory factors have not been
confirmed as of this writing.  This investigation is continuing.
